Joint Monitoring Visit Evaluates LACIP II Project in Tank District

To assess progress and address any concerns, a joint monitoring visit was conducted in Tank district by representatives from PPAF, NEC, and SRSP. The team reviewed infrastructure development projects and observed ongoing skill training programs under the LACIP II initiative funded by KfW. They interacted with village organizations, laborers, and trainees to gain insights into project challenges and impact. Additionally, occupational health and safety professionals accompanied the team to ensure adherence to safety protocols during construction.

Clean Water for North Waziristan: MPCL Installs Solar-Powered Filtration Plants

Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL), as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts, installed two solar-powered water filtration plants in Tehsil Shewa and Spinwam of North Waziristan. These Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants can produce a combined 6,000 gallons of clean drinking water daily, addressing the needs of local communities and aiming to reduce waterborne diseases in the area. The opening ceremonies, attended by MPCL staff, local government officials, and representatives from the Sarhad Rural Support Programme (SRSP), celebrated the project’s completion. It’s important to note that SRSP was responsible for installing the plants.

Afghan Refugee women of village Barakai, district Swabi KPK attended 5 days short-training on Potato farming. At the end of the training potato seeds and tool kits were provided to trainees to start the cultivation. After three months they have started to harvest potatoes and are earning a handsome amount of money by selling them in the local vegetable market of Swabi.

Four days staff orientation session was organised on “Inclusive Planning & Social Mobilization for Improved Services Delivery in Refuge-Host Communities” project. The project staff attended the workshop at SRSP’s Human Resource Development Center. GIZ team members also delivered sessions during the workshop.
