In a heartwarming initiative aimed at empowering vulnerable women, Sarhad Rural Support Programme (SRSP) recently organized a five-day training program on “Soap and Detergent Making” for 15 Afghan refugee women residing at the Khurasan Refugee Village in District Peshawar.

This empowering initiative, financially supported by UNHCR Pakistan, equipped these women with the necessary skills and knowledge to create their own home-based businesses. The training covered a comprehensive range of topics, including:

  • Essential soap and detergent production processes: Participants learned the intricacies of soap and detergent production, from ingredient selection to the final stages of packaging.
  • Hands-on techniques: The training included practical sessions where the women could apply their newfound knowledge and hone their soap and detergent making skills.
  • Marketing strategies: Understanding that creating quality products is only half the battle, the training also incorporated sessions on effective marketing techniques, enabling the women to successfully sell their products.

To further support the women in their entrepreneurial journey, each participant received a toolkit containing essential equipment and materials to kickstart their soap and detergent businesses.

This initiative is a shining example of how organizations like SRSP and UNHCR are working together to provide opportunities for vulnerable communities. By enabling these Afghan refugee women to earn a dignified livelihood, the training program not only fosters self-reliance but also contributes to the economic and social well-being of the entire community.
